Each and every employee is registered with GOSI (General Organization of Social Insurance) in Saudi Arabia. Your employer is paying a certain percentage of your salary every month as GOSI contribution. Do you know that you are entitled to many rights against this contribution paid by your employer to GOSI? I think 90% of the expatriate and Saudi employees living in Saudi Arabia are not aware of these rights. Benefits of GOSI to Expatriate and Saudi Employees
- Medical Care: In case an expatriate or Saudi employee is injured due to occupational injury, GOSI will take care of his all medical treatment without any limit of time.
- Daily Allowance: If occupational injury leads to a temporary disability in a way that injured person cannot perform his duties, he is entitled to a daily allowance which is equivalent to 100% of his daily wages. This allowance will be reduced to 75% of his daily wages if GOSI is taking care of his medical expenses.
- It is very important to mention here that apart from the benefits from GOSI, employer is also responsible to compensate employee with some benefits as per Saudi Labor Law. I strongly recommend you to go through this link "Compensation

- It is important to mention here that every employee is also entitled to 4 months fully, partially and unpaid sick leave from the employer. Recommended: Entitled Leaves as per Saudi Labor Law
- Disability of an expatriate (non-Saudi) employee
- In case of permanent disability or Death of an expatriate or Non-Saudi Employee due to occupational injury, he is entitled to a lump sum amount equivalent to 84 months’ salary of calculated based upon average salary of last three months. However, this amount cannot exceed SR 330,000/-.
- In case of partial disability of an expatriate or Non-Saudi Employee from 50% to 99% due to occupational injury, he is entitled to a lump sum amount equivalent to 60 months’ salary of calculated based upon average salary of last three months. However, this amount cannot exceed SR 165,000/-.
Medical Care and Cash Compensation are the two types of benefits assured by the GOSI (General Organization of Social Insurance) in case of occupational injury takes place. Before going into detail about the benefits, I think we should clarify the definition of occupational Injury. The injured person, or his representative, must notify the employer within seven days after the injury’s occurrence, deterioration or complication takes place or the disease is discovered. The employer, or his representative, must notify GOSI Field Office of the employment injury for which first-aid is insufficient, within three days after he is informed of the injury or takes note of its occurrence. The injury is considered occupational injury in the following 5 cases.
- If accident takes places during work or it resulted from the work
- If accident takes place on his way to workplace from his home, on the way back to home from workplace, while going somewhere to have lunch or perform prayers from workplace.
- If accident takes place during his movements in order to perform the tasks entrusted to him by the employer.
- Any disease caused by the work
- Any disease sustained by the contributor specified in the table of occupational diseases
