Healthy and Unhealthy effects of Sleeping on your Health

Sleep plays an essential role in good health and wellbeing. It helps in keeping the immune system of our body strong. It also tends to reduce stress and regulate mood. Everyone needs good quality sleep to work effectively throughout the day. Many people face sleeping problem, either they sleep too few hours or they sleep more than the hours needed. Sleeping disorders can harm health instantly or over time. Sleep disorders can cause problem in a person’s health and harm the life as well. In children and teens, sleep supports growth and development. Sleep also plays a role in proper working of our brain. A goodnights sleep improves learning ability not only in kids but adults as well. Not sleeping poorly can ruin the day ahead.

Sleeping also affects the mood significantly so next time you wish to wake up happy, sleep better. Driving will be affected if a person slept fewer hours than needed at night because driving sleepily is like driving drunk which can lead to many accidents. Too little sleep can cause lots of problems in human body. It can also lead to weight gain and obesity as well, which is seen as a growing heath concern in Saudi Arabia. Since if a person is deprived of sleep, their preferences to intake high calories food will increase and so will be the case in women who slept less than 6 hours or more than 8 hours were prone to gain weight compared to those women who slept 7 to 8 hours a night. For a healthy beautiful skin, sleep better because sleep plays an important role.

Over sleeping is like a treat on weekends, but regularly oversleeping can be a sign of medical problem. Risk of depression can increase by sleeping too much. Sleep should be between 7 to 8 hrs among adults, not more not less. Because sleeping too much or too little could impair the brain. Headaches and migraine are also a common problem seen among people who sleep too much. Staying awake at night and sleeping for 4-5 hours a night can increase blood pressure among young men as well, a large study found out. Sleeping more than 8 hours a day can double the risk of stroke in older people, this was concluded by academics at Cambridge University. But still the link between sleep and death risk is not clear. It’s not yet confirmed whether sleep itself causes increase in death risk or people at risk for other reasons tend to sleep extra hours.

A good night’s sleep among women can be ruined by any sleeping disorders. A women’s sleep can be affected by lots of factors such as depressions, stress, medication, aging, getting up with the baby, meeting family needs and many more. Studies say that women tend to sleep lighter than men, so they are more easily awakened at night. Men tend to sleep better than the female. The quality and quantity of sleep both are important and change as a person ages with time. Sleeping will also affect the person’s productivity at work. It will be hard to concentrate if a person is tired due to lack of sleep.
