Petra, which is also called Al-Batra in Arabic, is an archeological and historical city which is located in the southern Jordanian governorate of Ma’a. The historic city has managed to impress the world and simply blow them away with its detailed and elaborate stone-cut architecture and also its excellent water conduit system. The city is also referred to as the Rose city, fondly. This is because of the fact that the color of the stones from which the brilliant architecture has been carved, is indeed rose pink or red, depending on the weather.Here are a few unknown and interesting facts about the Rose city, which may just convince you to make your next vacation destination, the Middle East;

  1. Amongst the amazing architecture that is found in the city of Petra, the most popular one is that of the Treasury, which is estimated to be well over 2000 years old.
  2. The Bedouin people of the Arabian Desert are responsible for some of the destruction that has been done of the best and most priceless carvings which were done on the walls of the Treasury. The Bedouin People would then use these carvings as targets during their routine hosting practices.
