The Minister of Culture and Information, Adel Al Turaifi stated in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the cabinet has took due note of the fact that not only will this expansion project expand the area of the mosque, but also increase the area of the courtyards. With this new expansion project complete the Holy Mosque will be able to accommodate a total of 2 million worshippers and pilgrims. The Cabinet has praised the great efforts of King Salman in relation to Hajj and Umrah programs which will be implemented for the first time. Along with this the program to host 1000 pilgrims who perform Umrah rituals each year is being also carried out by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, Endowments and Guidance.
Al Turaifi had stated that the Cabinet has duly approved the new regulations which have been set up for the families of the martyrs, injured, missing persons and prisoners. The Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif along with the deputy premier and Interior Minister will be the Chairman of the Board of trustees of this particular fund. The main objective of the fund is to help those in need amongst the family of martyrs, injured, prisoners or missing persons. The pension will also carry out charity work regularly.
Amongst the commendations, however were also some grim condemnations by the Cabinet. The entire Cabinet condemned in a unanimous resolution the foiled terrorist attacks which had targeted worshippers inside the Al Anoud Mosque in Dammam. The Cabinet has termed the attack as sinful and done by deviants. The cabinet claims that these deviants have resorted to violence and murder as a source of livelihood and entertainment in this world, and have tied to undermine the otherwise flawless security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and have also distorted the image of Islam in front of the rest of the world.
They additionally added commendations to the security forces who risk their lives to ensure acts like these remain unsuccessful. The minister applauded the joint efforts by citizens and law enforcement agencies, and has even gone as far as to call the citizens, the first line of security.
