Majid Al Haram, Makkah: Makkah is the birthplace of Islam and is also home to the largest mosque in the whole world. Muslims from all around the world face in the direction of the Ka’bah, which is housed in the Masjid Al Haram, while they perform their obligatory daily prayers. This makes the Mosque, the most Holy site according to Islam. During the Annual Pilgrimage known as Hajj, the Holy Mosque is host to one of the largest gathering of people around the world as Muslims travel to the mosque from every corner of the world. Also located within the premises is the well of Zamzam which has been gushing out water in the middle of the desert since 1400 years.
Majid Al Nabawi, Madinah: Located in the city of Madinah, this mosque was built and originally established by the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The mosque is the second largest mosque from all around the world and it is the holiest site in Islam after Majid Al Haram located in Makkah. The mosque was also the first place in the entire region of the Arabian Peninsula to be provided with electrical lights.
King Fahd Fountain, Jeddah: The King Fahd Fountain is the tallest fountain in the world. Each and every single day a huge jet of water beautifully graces the skyline of Jeddah, and this is such a breathtakingly spectacular view that it completely dominates the skyline of the city. The magnificent fountain throws around seven tons of water into the air at any one given moment at a nozzle speed near 200 kilometers per hour. The water reaches a height of 260 meters which surpasses the Jetd’Eau’s fountain water height of 90 meters by a huge margin.
Madain Saleh: The Madain Saleh is the Doomed City of Prophet Saleh. This city has been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and today this famous city stands empty and deserted amongst several mountains and rocky cliffs. Nearly 2000 years ago this city was home to the flourishing Nabataen Kingdom. This site was claimed as the first world heritage site because of its well preserved remains, which include 131 rock-cut tombs.
Historic Balad, Jeddah: For more than a thousand years the city of Jeddah has been a major trade port and has served as a gateway for numerous Muslim Pilgrims who travel to Makkah and Madinah who arrive by sea. Heavy influx of foreign tourists has caused this region to become a multicultural center and has overtime developed their own unique architectural style known as Hijazi Architecture. The Balad is the center of Hijazi architecture and some of the last remains of the unique architecture can be found.
