Since the dawn of fashion, or when people actually started to care what they wore, people have been flogging to their nearest tailors or boutiques and buying the best they can in their budget and often end up crossing their budget on clothes. Some people may not understand what goes through the mind of a fashion conscious man or woman. Over history men and women graduated from one level of clothing to the other and with each era men and women flocked to either bigger sized dress for men and women and after the size, the fabrics and the cuts kept getting better and better.
The world of fashion keeps on giving us both awe inspiring and giggle inducing fashion items however it is not often that we get to see something which makes you both confused and awe struck. As if the dresses made out of the fur of rare, exotic, not to mention nearly extinct animals wasn’t enough now a Saudi fashion designer has come up with a new innovation.Rania Ghamrawi, the Saudi fashion designer in question here has made a unique dress using only currency notes of SAR 500. The fashion designer has estimates that notes worth SAR 1 million have been used to design this unique and one of a kind dress. Many fashion designers from the Saudi Fashion industry were awestruck when they were shown this unique master piece, reported the local Saudi media.
Rania stated while talking to the media that it took her over 3 weeks to completely stud all of the currency onto the fabric, sew the crystal beads around the chest and also do the lining of the entire dress. Rania added that the dress was created with the intention that it would be displayed during the celebrations of the Saudi National day, adding that the dress was highly appreciated by everyone and it has made it all worth her while of tedious work.
Rania explained that her Saudi currency covered design is actually a traditional dress which represents the heritage and cultural identity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a trendy modern touch, rather than the same traditional green costume with the traditional shemagh headdress.Rania states that this idea came to her while working on her graduation project to make or assemble a dress out of material which is not intended to be actually worn, or has other uses than being worn.
Rania initially worked on two different dresses of the same mindset. One was the one made out of currency which is mentioned thoroughly above; the other was a dress of low value made out of large black garbage bags. Finally it was her professors who approved the first design as it attracted them more than the black one and told her that they consider it a unique and valuable cultural piece.Even though the approach of the dress was nice it would have been much better if both these dresses were placed side by side instead of just one.
