Top 20 Countries by Traffic Related Death Rate

Most of the deaths in the world are caused by road accidents. The main reasons of these accidents are the unawareness from road rules. In every 25 seconds a person is killed in the world because of road accidents. According to the statistics, the list of the countries by the ratio of road deaths shows the number of road deaths per year. In reality most of these countries are working very hard with basic road network and an insufficient police force to implement traffic laws. Saudi Arabia is also one of these countries In 2011, more than 7 thousand people died in Traffic related accidents in Saudi Arabia. These statistics are making the country the world’s fatal traffic record. Saudi Arabia has the 21st-highest road-related death toll in the world.

The present study shows the comparison of KSA with that of other nations revealed the situation that Saudi Arabia stands at a reasonable position. In spite of its comparatively high motorization rank, this country has a lower fatality rate than several other countries like Thailand and South Africa. Saudi Arabia has experienced a speedy trade and industry development resulting in a massive increase in the motorization rate associated with quickly increasing road structure. And the consequence of all these expending is in the shape of traffic accidents. It has become a serious problem facing by the country. Efforts were made for the traffic safety in KSA. There is huge inconsistency in road traffic death rates between zone and areas. Consequently the risk of dying in a road traffic injury is supreme in the African states which is 24.1 per 100,000 population, as compared to African zone, the Europe is at a low level which is 10.3 per 100,000 people.

The countries having an excessive quality of motorization are suffering from high burden of road traffic deaths. List of Some countries where traffic-related death rate per 100,000 inhabitants is very high is as follows. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Eritrea is the first in the group of highest number of road deaths per 100,000 residents which is 48.40.  In Eritrea, which has an acceptable road infrastructure, the high rate of fatal road accidents is mostly blamed on bad driver attitude. The rate of Road Traffic Accidents Deaths in Dominican Republic is 41.70 per 100,000 of population positions 2nd in the world. Libya is 3rd in the list and the death rate is 40.50 per 100,000 of population. Traffic Deaths in Thailand has reached 38.10 per 100,000 of population which is 4th highest rank in the world. Then Venezuela is in the list where the death rate is 37.20 per 100,000 of population. Then respectively series of country such as Nigeria comes on number 6 with the traffic death rate is 33.70 per 100,000 of population, South Africa at rank 7, Iraq has the Death Rate of 31.50 and ranked it No.8, Guinea-Bissau is at 9 in the world with the death rate of 31.20 per 100,000 of population and last but not the least Oman reached at No.10 with the traffic death rate 30.40 per 100,000 inhabitant.

Things are not very much changed in sub-continent. India is at the 61 number in this list. It has the highest absolute number of recorded road deaths, 138,258 people died of road accidents in India in 2012. That's a slightly less than the total masses of Maldives. This means 19 deaths every hour or more than one death in every three minutes. The number of traffic accidents and accident-related deaths is unfortunately bound to increase.

Pakistan is at the rank of 80. Pakistan has bad roads, non-implementation of traffic laws, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving that not checked by the system. These are the reason that Pakistan has poor record of deadly traffic accidents. Road traffic death rate per 100,000 people in Pakistan is 17.4 as compared to the other countries is very high, like United Kingdom is 3.1, Germany is 4.7 and in France it is 6.4.
