I will perform Hajj on behalf of Martyrs of Makkah Incident – Imam Sudais

By now most of the world is familiar with what happened at the Grand Mosque last Friday. For those who may not know, an enormous construction crane broke and fell on top of the roof of the Grand Mosque which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several Pilgrims. The head of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosque’s Affairs, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais has stated that it is a duty upon each and every Muslim to perform Hajj on behalf of those pilgrims who were martyred due to the crane collapse tragedy which occurred last week. Head of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosque, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais had visited the injured pilgrims, who became victim to the collapsing of the crane, in hospitals on Sunday.

As a Muslim we should all pray for the deceased people and we should also donate to charity as well as perform Hajj on behalf of those people who have lost their lives in the unfortunate accident that day. Al Sudais stated this while adding that all of the injured people are being provided for with proper medical care which will help them in continuing their pilgrimage. Al Sudais made these statements while talking to the Makkah Arabic Daily. Al Sudais also added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always treated these pilgrims as Guests of Almighty Allah and hence the injured had been visited by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman himself. Al Sudais stated that the unfortunate incident with the crane happened due to the heavy rains and strong winds which ultimately cause the crane to fall.

The Emir of Makkah, Prince Khaled Al Faisal has also ordered for the health officials to arrange for four carriages which will be equipped with various medical equipment as well as medical staff which will aid in the transportation of injured pilgrims and will also allow them to complete their Hajj pilgrimage. The Health Director of Makkah, Dr. Mostafa Baljoun stated that two of the carriages are currently in Mina while two are located in Makkah. He also added that the security authorities will also be providing a tent which will be set up as an infirmary which will tend to the injured pilgrims. Mostafa Baljoun added that those who have been severely injured will be helped by the paramedics.

The entire incident of the crane collapse had been caught on several cell phone cameras presumably of Pilgrims and locals in the area. In the videos you can clearly see the adverse weather conditions which had been surrounding the area. The entire issue went viral on social media in the Muslim world as well as the rest of the world.

Pilgrims ranging from all over the world had travelled to the Kingdom of Saud Arabia as they do every year in order to perform pilgrimage. The Hajj season sees nearly 2 million pilgrims coming into the Kingdom.
