Every year with the mass inflow of pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the accommodation has become fairly hard and difficult for most, not to mention costly. While most pilgrims look for hotels close to the Kaa’bah and Masjid-e-Haram, others are bound to look for the further accommodation. Hotel booking in Makkah starts 6 month prior the period of Hajj. In 2015, during the period of Hajj, there was a 25% increase in the number of pilgrims. Over the years, the number is only expected to increase more and more which would require new hotels and rest houses to be built or for a better system that could help provide booking of hotels to all the pilgrims.
Recently, the government of Saudi Arabia has introduced an e-system which shall soon be operational throughout the Kingdom benefiting the pilgrims and tourists who seek to book at hotels while they visit the Kingdom. Often, it is observed that the booking procedure at a hotel can take up to 24 hours, but can exceed during the busy months of pilgrimage. Through the e-system, booking a hotel and utilizing other facilities within the grounds of Arabia would become easy and quick. This is the official statement made by the deputy president of the national committee for Hajj and Umrah at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) earlier this week.
Through this, Umrah pilgrims would be able to save 10 to 15 percent of the cost that they would spend on their hotels. The e-system would help to cut off the intermediaries making their stay a whole lot easier and economical. With this system, the booking shall be more efficient. One would have a room booked in their name the very next minute. There shall be no human errors or delays. All the work shall be carried out by the system, solely depending on the machine and its generation processor.
The firm that is responsible for equipping the Kingdom with these operating systems is the Sajjil Company that is also being governed and monitored by the Umrah operators in collaboration with the MCCI. In a meeting held in the first week of November, the briefing was done aiming to tell how the system shall aim mainly at hotel reservations and bookings between the Umrah firms and Ministry of Hajj. The system became operational on the start of Safar, which was the 13th of November.
What is very right about introducing such a system in the Kingdom is that it would prevent the involvement of brokers. Now, people can have a confirmed reservation and equality would be given to all the pilgrims without any special attention or treatment. This would provide hotel accommodations to all those who have come into the Kingdom and will help prevent them from spending extra money on fake reservations etc.
