The Special Criminal Court in Jeddah has just issued a preliminary ruling on a Saudi national man. The Saudi national has been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Special Criminal Court for the crime of disregarding the scholars and rulers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Special Criminal Court held the Saudi national man guilty of blatantly opposing the senior scholars for their honesty and their faith. The Saudi man also challenged the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary of Saudi Arabia and went ahead of accusing various government bodies of violating human rights without having any evidence to back up his accusation.
The Saudi national has been also charged with inciting the public via the internet against the rulers of Saudi Arabia. He also termed them as oppressors and called for demonstrations against the rulers of Saudi Arabia. He has also been charged with refusal to obey rulings of the court on dissolving a banned society known as “hasm” and was adamant on continuing work with the society. The Special Criminal Court has also placed a ban on the Saudi man on traveling to any foreign country or using any platform of social media for a period of 8 years after his prison sentence ends. In a separate ruling, a court in Riyadh has found two Saudi nationals guilty of having links with Al Qaeda and Daesh or ISIS and has sentenced both guilty Saudis to 12 and nine years behind bars.
One of the convicts has been sentenced to nine years behind bars for traveling to Syria to join the Daesh group and to also participate in the current war going on in the region. He has also been convicted of providing money to another person to arrange his travel to Syria. The other charges that he had faced include holding the youth in a camp and brainwashing them to join radical terrorist groups such as Daesh and spreading pro-radical material to the public via Whatsapp.
Another man has been convicted to 12 years behind bars for supporting radical groups such as Al Qaeda and Daesh, trying to join these radical groups and urging others to help and join them. He has been convicted of providing financial support to the man convicted above to travel to Syria and join forces with Daesh and provide them with some money. The man would also prepare material to incite the general masses and material that supported chaos and “revolution”.
The convicted Saudi had shared this type of material created by him through the telegram to various high-profile terror suspects and gave these suspects the “good news” of the demise of the Late King Abdullah. It is good to see that such radical minds are being put behind bars before they can create any real trouble. Radicalism is truly not the way of Islam and the Muslim people all around the world should realize this.
