Penalties on Domestic Workers and Employers for violating the Contract

The following are the sanctions and fines which can and will be placed on any employer of a domestic worker or the domestic worker themselves if they are found in violation of any of the laws, rules, and regulations of labor set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi courts. Most of the families in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has at least 1 domestic worker employed in their homes, and this information is helpful for everybody who is wondering about what the legal consequences are of violating the labor laws in the Kingdom. Penalty for the violations by the Employer: Without prejudice to the penalties that have been stipulated for by the other regulations, those employers who are found in violation of the provisions of the domestic labor regulations will be subjected to the following penalties;

  1. If the violation is a repeated one, the employer will be punished by a minimum fine of SAR 2000 and a maximum fine of SAR 5000. They can also be placed on prohibition from recruiting for a period of three years or even all the above.
  2. If the violation is repeated, the respective committee may prevent the violating employer from recruiting domestic labor in the future.
  3. The penalty will be multiplied by the number of violations that are proved in the court against the employer.

Penalty for the violations by the domestic labor: Without prejudice to the penalties which have been stipulated for in the other regulations, the domestic worker or labor will be subjected to penalty/s for violating the provisions set by the domestic labor regulations as the following;

  1. A monetary fine which may not go above the sum of SAR 2000 and also be prohibited from working in the Kingdom in the future or even both penalties simultaneously.
  2. The monetary penalty will be multiplied by the number of violations which have been proved in the court of law against the domestic worker or labor.

Cost of Repatriation: The domestic workers or labor that is violating the domestic labor laws will bear the complete cost of repatriation or deportation to their respective home country or country of origin. If the financial entitlements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the domestic worker or labor are not enough to pay off the fines which have been imposed them, then the domestic worker or labor will be deported or repatriate back to their home country at the expense of the home country.


Fines: The mentioned fines are to be deposited in a specific bank account to contribute to spending on the shelter of female domestic labor as well as the deportation of both male and female workers. This is in accordance with the mechanism which has been approved by the Minister of Labor.
