In an ultimate world, male and female would marry, exist long and live a happy life mutually and leave this world. There would be no need for next marriages. Marriage should never be reflection of a constant pain. After marriage, we live with the person who shares all our happiness, all our damages and gives love and care. But we live in a modern world where reality is much different. People sometimes die at an early age, leaving behind broken-hearted spouses with possibly long lives ahead of them. Also, marriages these days don't last and break into separation or divorce. This is because there are differences in minds, proper way of conveying thoughts, fights and lack of understanding which can lead to a depressed married life.
In Jeddah, a man recently married for the second time to a woman and brought her home where his first wife was living. The fight started when the husband came home with his second wife. The husband’s both wives got into an argument, which rose into a big fight and because of that conflict they involved their families. A court in Jeddah has ordered that 15 people are to be lashed which includes the husband of the two women whose fight led both wife’s relatives to interfere in their matter. The first wife took legal action against her husband by stating that he was aggressive to her when he announced that he was divorcing her and leaving her. He threw her and their son from their house on the building staircase.
During this incident, the thigh bone of the wife broke and because of this injury she had to be taken to the hospital and have thigh bone operation done on her. A medical report was issued by the King Fahd Hospital for the wife who stated that it took her three months to get better. A court in Jeddah gave decision after hearing to the evidences from the husband and his wives, and their family members and viewed the medical reports. The court punished 20 lashes each for 14 members of both the families and 50 lashes for the husband.
Furthermore, the judge also ordered that a fine of SR 80,000 must be paid by the husband for bodily damages and physical attack on his first wife. Marrying and having a second wife is something that is allowed by Islamic Law, if the man has the capability to do justice to that wedding, as stated by the Islamic law requesting male to maintain fairness among all his wives.
In case, let’s assume that the second marriage is distressing the first marriage and if the husband cannot treat his wives with fairness and justice, he should not marry more than one wife or second marriage should be avoided then. This declaration is typically ignored by several men. Allah has approved the rights of the women.
