Everyone holds some hobby which varies from person to person. Some people might have a hobby or passionate about collecting different stuff which includes pictures, old currency, coins, postcards, books, magazines and so on. In short, every person’s hobby varies according to their interest and passion with time. Recently the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, received a gift which was a truck by a Saudi. This Saudi holds classic thoughts and has strong passion for collecting classic cars. The Saudi collector, Abdulrahman al-Abri, shared his views in an interview about his rare truck as a gift to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the guardian of the Two Holy Mosques. King Salman started serving the nation as the Deputy Governor and then appointed as the Governor of Riyadh for about 48 years. Later, he was chosen as the Defence Minister. Now Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the King of Saudi Arabia and serving the Kingdom in most effective and best possible way. According to the Saudi who is crazily passionate about collecting classic cars stated that the truck was counted as a classic and rare piece in his collection. There are no spare parts available for the truck in Saudi Arabia. The truck did not work when he bought it around 22 years ago so Abdulrahman al-Abri ordered its spare parts from the United States of America and then fixed it.
After repairing the truck he used the truck for participating in various festivals. Later, Abdulrahman al-Abri kept this truck into his museum located in Al-Qassim and named Qassim Museum. Al-Qassim is counted among the thirteen administrative regions of Saudi Arabia which comprise of a population of about 1,370,727. Al-Qassim is considered as the richest region in Saudi Arabia. Abdulrahman al-Abri further added that he gave the truck as a gift to King Salman in 2006 when King Salman was the governor of Riyadh.
King Salman held great knowledge about this kind of truck and told him by recalling in mind that he used this truck for transporting horses at that time. He then also learned to drive these trucks in deserts of Riyadh. Abri also stated that King Salman told him that its name is Dasman as this is the name they use to call it with. Abri shared the experience of his recent visit with King Salman at al-Awja Palace which was a formal invitation to him by Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and the chairman of the board of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH).
Abdulrahman al-Abri has its own classic museum of cars in which he has around 100 cars. Some of the cars stored in the museum date back to 1946 and almost 50 of them are utilized after they are repaired. Some of the cars need spare parts which are very rare and still not found.
