On 21st June 2017, King Salman of Saudi Arabia issued a Royal Decree to appoint Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as the new Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia replacing Prince Muhammad bin Naif. It is reported that Prince Mohammed bin Salman was chosen as crown prince by 31 out of 34 members of the Allegiance Council during a meeting at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah in the early hours of Wednesday. The New Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia has served in the capacity of the defense minister and chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs.

In order to celebrate this moment, as Saudi Arabia is following a mindset where the leadership of Saudi Arabia is going to the hands of new and young leaders who understand new trends and demands of young people, King Salman has extended Eid Holidays for all public-sector employees by one week. All the public-sector employees in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia irrespective of their nationality (Saudis+Expats) would be enjoying an extended Eid Holidays till July 09, 2017. They were expected to return to office by July 01, 2017.

Earlier in the month of Ramadan, King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque realizing the needs of their citizens and expatriates working in the government sector, issued orders to pay one month salary in advance to all government employees by June 18, 2017.  This generous gesture by the monarch in issuing his directives to the pertinent authorities to pay this month’s salary in advance is meant to meet the citizens’ needs and to assist them in their purchases for Eid Al-Fitr, as the Ramadan salaries were scheduled to be paid on Shawwal 2, 1438H. This is not the first-time King Salman has helped its citizens. At the time when he took the office of King of Saudi Arabia, he released two months’ bonus to all Saudis working in the government sector. The news has been a great surprise for the expatriates and Saudis working in the government sector.

Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud was born 31 August 1985 in Jeddah. He is the youngest minister of defense in the world. Mohammad is also chief of the House of Saud royal court and chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs. We wish him best of luck on taking this new position. We believe and hope that the Kingdom will witness unprecedented prosperity in the reign of the leadership of new blood.
